January 4th brings us a New Moon in Capricorn, as well as a partial Solar Eclipse (the partner to the Lunar Eclipse that occurred during December’s Gemini Full Moon) in Capricorn. In her Northpoint Astrology Journal, astrologer Pam Younghans notes that this solar eclipse is the final eclipse the Capricorn-Cancer series that started on July 7th, 2009. These two eclipses act as bookends around an 18 month period, focusing on the learning and karmic resolution of many lifetimes.
The New Moon in Capricorn focuses on discipline, responsibility, structure, and authority. We are beginning the new year in a very strong fashion – paying attention to the structures in our lives- especially the financial and material structures – defining where we are and where we are going.
It is time to look at what we want to accomplish in 2011,and define the steps that we need to take to get there. It certainly doesn’t hurt that 2011 is a number four year – the Year of the Emperor, a foundation year. Capricorn gives us the patience to take our time in reviewing our goals, to think about the structure of our lives, and to use our innate skills and abilities to manifest the life that we want. This is especially important when we view our goals within the lens of the external changes going on around us on both the community and global levels.
If we use our skills and abilities wisely, recognizing our limitations, we can soar into the stratosphere!
