May 2011 Taurus New Moon

On May 2nd 2011 we have a new Moon in Taurus, the sign of stability, groundedness, finances and material security. Taurus brings with it a feeling of being close to mother earth, close to nature. Among the many ways that we can honor this new moon are the literal actions of sowing seeds and planting a garden (be it flower or vegetable), and taking the time to re-evaluate your financial/material life.

Fairly easy to re-evaluate your financial life – look at what is coming in versus what is going out, and at whether your expenditures are helping you to achieve your goals. Knowing where your money is going enables you to have control over it.

There is something else that is deeply connected with material life, and that is your happiness. What makes you happy? Are you spending money to buy things that give you momentary happiness? Do you know what would make you happy? Do you know what would make you feel that your life was stable and secure? The new moon in Taurus will ask us to look at these issues.

You may have to re-examine old issues and old patterns of thinking and behavior. They may have to be embraced and released before you can move on to new goals, and new levels of self-understanding.

There is something else to watch out for here. While Taurus is known for its conservative, stable nature, the flip side of the coin is its tendency towards stubbornness. Don’t allow your stubbornness to keep you from seeing why you are stuck in certain patterns, and how to get out of them.

Set your intent this new moon to being grounded and centered, to taking care of your physical health, and to connecting with mother earth. Become one with that which you are experiencing on a daily basis. Place your intention behind your will to accomplish your goals. Acknowledge the values that you are livng by, and make sure they are really yours, and not someone else’s.

What are you planting in your garden this new moon?
